In just about 15 minutes, this "poem" flowed as I explored the contrast between our digital connections and the simpler world we once knew.
In a fast-paced, screen-driven reality, we are constantly bombarded with notifications and fleeting interactions, yet we yearn for something deeper.
This piece is a reflection on how technology shapes our relationships and how, despite the convenience, we, or at least some of us, can’t help but miss the authenticity of real, face-to-face connection.
The ding of another notification,
Another digital connection
Leaves me wanting for more
A deeper kind of kinship
Instead of zeros and ones
In a world of pixels and filters
Faces blurred to perfection
And body snatching programs
Authenticity slowly becomes just a memory
Though words connect us swiftly
Emotions are no longer felt
The silence between our voices
Feels now louder than ever
We scroll the night away
Chasing fleeting glimpses
Fueled by rushes of dopamine
In this digital flush
In the glow of our screens
We mistake for warmth of touch
Our smiles no longer we share
But are sent into cyberspace deep
The hum of an electric connection
Lingers in my heart
In this world of white noise
We flounder in the static
Yearning for a time
Technology wasn't aware.
What are your thoughts? Is this digital world we find ourselves in an improvement? Or have we been cheated out of genuine connections?
